Create Sitemap/TOC for Blogger

Most bloggers who are on the Blogger platform will be wanting to create a Sitemap/TOC (Table Of Contents) for their blog, unfortunately we cannot create a xml Sitemap for Blogger blogs for submission to Google, Yahoo and Bing, but we can surely submit our atom feed as a sitemap. A Sitemap/TOC is a good and comprehensive way of displaying your posts. Today I'll show you how a create Sitemap for your blog that is neat and sorted by labels, with the help of which visitors can easily find content on your blog using the browsers (CTRL+F keys).

The best part of this widget is that it generates links automatically and you don't have to add links to your post every time you publish a post. It will also highlight new posts with the "New !!" text next to your post title. I would like to thank Abu-Farhan who is the author of this widget. You can take a look at the Sitemap of my blog.

How to create a Sitemap/TOC:

  1. Create a page- Go to posting tab > Edit Page > Create New Page. Type a suitable title for the Sitemap of your blog e.g Sitemap or TOC.

  2. Now select the Edit HTML tab and copy paste the code in the box below:

Change Your Posting Date With Calendar Icon



    Bored with those "default" format of the post date function ?
    And want some nice calendar icon to replace the normal format of your post date function ?
    Here is the final result of your calendar icon would be :



    Ok, let me explain the steps :

    1
    . The first thing you have to do is change your "date header format" to become mm/dd/yyyy (8/16/2009). How to do this? go to your blogger account, then chose "Setting --> Formatting, change "date header format" to become what I said before (mm/dd/yyyy) then save your setting.

    . Next step is go to tabs "Template --> Edit HTML". Don't forget to backup your template first. Click on a "Expand Widget Templates" check box. OK lets go to the deep trick.

    . Find this code <TITLE><data:blog.pageTitle/></TITLE> in your HTML. If you found it, put the code below under it :

    4. Find your "post" CSS section first, something to be like this :
